Company intelligence / Profile preview
Pratt Pharmaceuticals was a specialized pharmaceutical marketing division established by Pfizer in 1991 to manage and promote a high-growth portfolio of therapeutic products. The division was notably responsible for the commercial success of major blockbuster brands, including the calcium channel blocker Norvasc (amlodipine) and the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor Zoloft (sertraline). By utilizing a dedicated sales force, Pratt Pharmaceuticals focused on the cardiovascular and psychiatric markets during a period of significant expansion for Pfizer's primary care business. The division was eventually integrated back into Pfizer's core business units as part of corporate restructuring in the late 1990s. Its operations were central to Pfizer's strategy of maximizing market share for its emerging primary care blockbusters.
