Company intelligence / Profile preview
Presbia was an ophthalmic medical device company focused on the development and commercialization of the Presbia Flexivue Microlens, a corneal inlay designed to treat presbyopia. The microlens is a small, transparent disc implanted into the cornea to improve near vision, offering a surgical alternative to reading glasses. While the device received CE Mark approval and was marketed internationally, the company faced significant challenges in obtaining FDA approval in the United States. Following prolonged financial difficulties and regulatory hurdles, Presbia was delisted from the NASDAQ in 2019 and eventually filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in late 2022. The company's operations have since ceased, and its assets were subject to liquidation.
