Primagen Holding

Primagen was a Dutch biotechnology company specializing in the development of molecular diagnostic tests and services for infectious diseases and mitochondrial toxicity. The company leveraged its proprietary Nucleic Acid Sequence Based Amplification (NASBA) technology to provide highly sensitive RNA quantification assays, most notably for HIV-1 monitoring. Primagen's portfolio included the Retina HIV-1 RNA assay and tools for assessing mitochondrial DNA depletion, which is a critical side effect of certain antiretroviral therapies. In 2007, the company was acquired by Eurofins Scientific to strengthen its presence in the pharmaceutical and diagnostic testing markets.
