Prime Medical Services was a leading provider of urological services and medical technology management in the United States. The company specialized in providing mobile and fixed-site lithotripsy services, which use shock waves to non-invasively break up kidney stones. In addition to its core lithotripsy business, Prime Medical offered treatments for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostate cancer, and managed several ambulatory surgery centers. The company was publicly traded on the NASDAQ under the symbol PMSI until its merger with Medstone International in 2005, which resulted in the formation of HealthTronics. This merger created one of the largest urological service providers in the country, offering a comprehensive suite of clinical and technology solutions to hospitals and physicians.
