Company intelligence / Profile preview
Profos AG was a biotechnology company based in Regensburg, Germany, focused on the development of bacteriophage-based solutions for the detection and removal of bacterial contaminants. The company leveraged its proprietary phage-ligand technology to create highly specific tools for identifying pathogens such as Salmonella and Listeria in food and environmental samples. A key commercial success was the EndoTrap product line, which utilizes recombinant phage-derived proteins for the efficient removal of endotoxins from biological samples and pharmaceutical preparations. In 2009, Profos was acquired by Hyglos GmbH, which continued to commercialize its endotoxin-related technologies before Hyglos itself was acquired by bioMérieux in 2016.
