PrognostiX

PrognostiX was a medical diagnostics company founded in 2002 as a spin-off from the Cleveland Clinic. The company specialized in developing and commercializing inflammatory biomarkers for the assessment of cardiovascular risk. Its flagship product was a diagnostic test for Myeloperoxidase (MPO), an enzyme linked to the progression of atherosclerosis and the vulnerability of arterial plaques. The MPO test provided a unique prognostic tool for identifying patients at high risk for near-term cardiovascular events, such as myocardial infarction, independent of traditional risk factors like cholesterol. In 2009, PrognostiX was acquired by Cleveland HeartLab, which integrated the MPO technology into its broader suite of cardiovascular diagnostic services. The company's work significantly advanced the use of inflammatory markers in clinical cardiology.
