Prolifaron

Prolifaron was a private San Diego-based biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and early-stage development of novel antibody therapeutics. The company built capabilities around combinatorial human antibody library development, proprietary selection technologies, cell-based biological screening, optimization, and animal model development. Its work appears to have centered on therapeutic and diagnostic antibodies, with cancer cited among its disease areas of interest. In September 2000, Alexion Pharmaceuticals acquired Prolifaron in a stock transaction valued at approximately $41 million and renamed the business Alexion Antibody Technologies. Prolifaron therefore no longer operates as an independent company.
