Prometic Bioseparations

Prometic Bioseparations was a life science tools and bioprocessing company focused on downstream purification technologies for biopharmaceutical manufacturing. The company developed and manufactured affinity chromatography adsorbents, chromatography resins, pre-packed columns, and custom purification solutions used in the production of recombinant proteins and advanced therapy products. In January 2020, Prometic Bioseparations Ltd changed its name to Astrea Bioseparations following its divestment from Liminal Biosciences, and the business was later acquired by Biotage in June 2023. Its technology base included Mimetic Ligand chemistry, custom ligand discovery, the PuraBead resin platform, Evolve columns, and more recently nanofiber-based purification products for cell and gene therapy workflows. The business served drug developers and manufacturers rather than operating a therapeutic drug pipeline of its own.
