ProteOptics

ProteOptics was an Israeli life sciences company specializing in the development of Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) imaging technology for label-free biomolecular interaction analysis. The company's proprietary technology allowed for the simultaneous monitoring of multiple molecular interactions in real-time, significantly increasing throughput compared to traditional SPR methods. Their primary product development focused on the ProteOn system, which utilized a unique multichannel fluidics design to enable high-efficiency kinetic analysis. In 2006, ProteOptics was acquired by Bio-Rad Laboratories for approximately $20 million. This acquisition allowed Bio-Rad to integrate ProteOptics' multiplexed SPR technology into its protein expression and purification product lines, eventually leading to the launch of the ProteOn XPR36 system.
