Provalis PLC was a UK-based healthcare company that specialized in medical diagnostics and pharmaceutical products. The company was best known for its point-of-care diagnostic systems, specifically the Glycosal and In2it platforms, which provided rapid HbA1c testing for diabetes management. Originally founded as Cortecs PLC, the company initially focused on oral drug delivery technologies and developed candidates like Macritonin for osteoporosis. Following a strategic shift toward diagnostics, the company faced financial difficulties and was eventually broken up. Its diagnostics division was acquired by Inverness Medical Innovations (now part of Abbott) in 2005, while its pharmaceutical assets and sales divisions were sold to other healthcare entities.
