Provera

ProVera is an Australian biotechnology company focused on developing novel therapeutics for advanced prostate cancer. Spun out from the University of Adelaide and the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI), the company leverages world-class expertise in steroid hormone signaling. Its lead program involves the development of small molecule inhibitors targeting the enzyme AKR1C3, which is responsible for the production of potent androgens within tumor cells. This intracrine androgen production is a major mechanism of resistance to current standard-of-care treatments for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). ProVera aims to provide a new line of therapy for patients who have progressed on existing androgen receptor-targeted agents. The company is currently advancing its lead candidate through preclinical development with support from IP Group.
