Providence Research

Providence Research serves as the biomedical research arm of Providence Health Care in Vancouver. It ranks among Canada’s top hospital-based research institutions (#4 nationally), hosting over 250 full-time equivalent investigators and nearly 1,000 staff across five major centers. Its expertise spans laboratory science to applied outcomes studies across numerous therapeutic areas including infectious disease (notably HIV/AIDS), cardiovascular medicine, nephrology/renal care, mental health/addictions medicine, geriatrics/aging-related conditions and more. In 2024 it became home to British Columbia's only phase one clinical trials unit for non-cancer studies. No specific drug/vaccine trial outcomes reported; institution supports investigator-led translational science with some contract services.
