Company intelligence / Profile preview
Prudential HealthCare was a prominent American managed healthcare company and a subsidiary of Prudential Financial. At its peak in the late 1990s, it was one of the largest health insurers in the United States, providing a wide range of medical, dental, and pharmacy benefit plans, including HMO, PPO, and point-of-service (POS) options. The company served approximately 6.6 million members across the U.S. before its acquisition by Aetna in 1999 for $1 billion. This landmark transaction significantly consolidated the managed care industry and established Aetna as the largest health benefits provider in the country at the time. Today, its historical operations and member base are integrated into the healthcare business of CVS Health following CVS's subsequent acquisition of Aetna.
