pSiOncology

pSiOncology was a Singapore-based biotechnology company and joint venture established to develop localized cancer therapies using nanostructured porous silicon (BioSilicon) technology. Formed in 2002 as a collaboration between Singapore General Hospital, Biotech Research Ventures, and pSiMedica (a subsidiary of pSivida), the company focused on its lead product, BrachySil (P-32 BioSilicon). BrachySil is a brachytherapy device designed to deliver a localized dose of the isotope Phosphorus-32 directly into solid tumors, specifically targeting unresectable pancreatic and liver cancers. In 2004, pSivida acquired the remaining interest in pSiOncology for approximately $57.8 million, making it a wholly owned subsidiary. Following a strategic shift toward ophthalmology, pSivida (now EyePoint Pharmaceuticals) licensed the BrachySil technology to OncoSil Medical, and pSiOncology became a dormant subsidiary.
