Company intelligence / Profile preview
Purdue Pharma is a privately held pharmaceutical company best known for its development and commercialization of the opioid painkiller OxyContin. Historically focused on pain management, the company's portfolio includes various extended-release opioid formulations, as well as treatments for ADHD, sleep disorders, and over-the-counter products. Since 2019, the company has been operating under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection following massive litigation related to its role in the U.S. opioid epidemic. As part of its proposed restructuring, Purdue Pharma is intended to be dissolved and its assets transferred to a new public benefit company, Knoa Pharma, which will focus on developing and distributing opioid overdose reversal medications and addiction treatments.
