Company intelligence / Profile preview
Purepac Pharmaceutical was a prominent American generic drug manufacturer specializing in the development and production of oral solid dosage forms. Founded in 1929, the company built a significant portfolio of multisource pharmaceutical products across various therapeutic categories, including analgesics, anti-infectives, and cardiovascular medications. It operated for many years as the U.S. generic arm of the Australian firm F.H. Faulding & Co before being acquired by Mayne Group. In 2005, its oral solids business was sold to Watson Pharmaceuticals, which eventually became part of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries. Purepac was notably recognized for its large-scale manufacturing operations in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and its role in bringing high-volume generics to the U.S. market.
