Company intelligence / Profile preview
PurePara, Inc. was a Boston-based biotechnology company focused on developing innovative therapies for hypoparathyroidism. Founded as a spin-out from Massachusetts General Hospital, the company was established by world-renowned experts in parathyroid hormone (PTH) biology, including Thomas Gardella, Henry Kronenberg, and John Potts. PurePara specialized in the development of long-acting PTH analogs designed to target the PTH1 receptor with a unique binding profile to provide sustained therapeutic effects. Its lead candidate, AZP-3601 (now known as eneoparatide), was engineered to normalize blood calcium levels while minimizing urinary calcium excretion and protecting kidney function. In July 2019, PurePara was acquired by Amolyt Pharma (formerly Alizé Pharma 3) to advance its PTH program through clinical development. The asset has since progressed into Phase 3 trials, representing a potential best-in-class treatment for rare endocrine disorders.
