PvP Bio

PvP Biologics was a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing a novel enzyme therapy for the treatment of celiac disease. The company's lead candidate, TAK-062 (formerly Kuma062), is a computationally engineered recombinant super-enzyme designed to highly specifically degrade the immune-reactive parts of gluten in the stomach. By breaking down gluten before it reaches the small intestine, the therapy aims to prevent the immune response and subsequent intestinal damage characteristic of celiac disease. PvP Biologics was founded on technology licensed from the University of Washington's Institute for Protein Design and was acquired by Takeda Pharmaceutical Company in 2020 following a successful Phase 1 proof-of-mechanism study.
