Company intelligence / Profile preview
Qbiogene was a global life sciences company that specialized in the development and manufacture of molecular biology reagents, kits, and laboratory equipment. The company was formed in 2000 through the strategic merger of Quantum Biotechnologies, Bio 101, and Appligene Oncor, combining expertise in genomics and proteomics. Qbiogene was best known for its FastPrep System, a widely adopted technology for the rapid homogenization and lysis of biological samples. Its product catalog included a vast array of tools for DNA and RNA purification, transformation, and protein expression. In October 2006, the company was acquired by MP Biomedicals, a move that significantly expanded MP's presence in the molecular biology market. Following the acquisition, Qbiogene's operations were integrated, though its core technologies continue to be marketed globally under the MP Biomedicals brand.
