Qingdao Haichuang Center for Innovative Biomedical Research (also known as Qingdao Haichuan Innovative Biological Natural Medicine Research Center) is a Chinese biotechnology research institution specializing in the development of innovative traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for psychiatric and gynecological disorders. Founded in 2001 and based in Qingdao, the center focuses on the neurobiological mechanisms of Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS), Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), and depression. Its research has led to the development of several clinical-stage candidates, most notably the Baixiangdan capsule, which has reached Phase III trials for PMS, and the Shuyu capsule, currently in Phase II for PMDD and depression. The center utilizes modern pharmacological techniques, such as network pharmacology and molecular docking, to identify active botanical compounds that modulate the 5-HT and GABA neurotransmitter systems.
