Overview
QLT pioneered light-based therapies for eye disease with Visudyne®, the first approved treatment for age-related macular degeneration. It also developed Eligard®, a long-term injectable prostate cancer therapy using its proprietary Atrigel® technology. The company’s synthetic retinoid program advanced into late clinical stages targeting rare inherited retinal disorders but did not reach commercialization before corporate restructuring and asset divestitures occurred.
