Company intelligence / Profile preview
Quest Vision Technologies was a medical device company specializing in the development of advanced intraocular lenses (IOLs) for the treatment of presbyopia and cataracts. Founded in 2000 by Dr. Randy Woods, the company pioneered a unique shape-changing optic technology that provides accommodation by altering the lens curvature in response to the eye's natural focusing mechanisms, rather than relying on axial movement. Its lead product candidates included the FocusIOL for the cataract market and the FlexOptic lens for refractive correction. The company was acquired by Advanced Medical Optics (AMO) in 2005 to bolster its premium IOL portfolio, and its technology was subsequently integrated into the ophthalmic divisions of Abbott and later Johnson & Johnson Vision.
