Quincy Medical Center

Quincy Medical Center was a community hospital located in Quincy, Massachusetts, providing a range of acute care and emergency services to the South Shore region. Founded in 1890 as Quincy City Hospital, it served as a primary healthcare hub for over a century before being acquired by Steward Health Care System in 2011. The facility offered various medical specialties, including emergency medicine, surgery, and diagnostic imaging, and was a teaching affiliate of the Boston University School of Medicine. Despite its long history, the hospital faced significant financial challenges and declining inpatient numbers, leading to its closure in December 2014. Following the closure, the site was eventually redeveloped for residential use, although some outpatient services were maintained in the vicinity.
