Quirem Medical was a Dutch medical technology company specializing in the development of next-generation radioembolization solutions for the treatment of liver tumors. The company's flagship product, QuiremSpheres, utilized Holmium-166 microspheres, which provided a unique advantage by being visible on both MRI and SPECT scans, allowing for precise treatment planning and post-treatment verification. Originally a spin-off from the University Medical Center Utrecht, Quirem Medical was acquired by Terumo Corporation in 2020 to enhance its interventional oncology portfolio. The company's Holmium-166 platform also included QuiremScout for work-up and Q-Suite dosimetry software to personalize Selective Internal Radiation Therapy (SIRT). In 2025, Terumo initiated liquidation proceedings for Quirem Medical, citing challenges in global expansion and a shifting competitive landscape.
