R2 Technology

R2 Technology was a pioneering medical technology company specializing in computer-aided detection (CAD) for the early discovery of cancer. The company is best known for developing the ImageChecker system, which became the first CAD software to receive FDA approval for use in screening mammography. This technology assists radiologists by highlighting suspicious areas on mammograms and chest X-rays that may warrant further review. In 2006, R2 Technology was acquired by Hologic, a major provider of diagnostic and surgical products for women's health. Today, its legacy CAD algorithms remain a core component of Hologic's breast health imaging portfolio.
