Company intelligence / Profile preview
Raintree Nutrition was a prominent provider of botanical supplements derived from the Amazon rainforest, founded by ethnobotanist Leslie Taylor in 1995. The company specialized in identifying and formulating traditional medicinal plants into therapeutic products, featuring a catalog of herbs such as Graviola, Sangre de Grado, and Cat's Claw. Raintree was recognized for its commitment to sustainable harvesting and its extensive database of ethnobotanical research. Despite its commercial success, the company faced significant regulatory pressure from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration regarding the health claims made for its herbal formulas. Consequently, Raintree Nutrition ceased all operations and sales in December 2012 to avoid further legal action. The founder subsequently transitioned the company's website into a free educational resource to preserve the research on rainforest medicinal plants.
