Overview
Rapigene was a U.S.-based genomics tools company focused on enabling technologies and services for single nucleotide polymorphism analyses and related genomics applications. The company was formed in March 1998 from technology developed at Darwin Molecular in the Seattle area. Its best-known asset was Masscode technology for high-speed SNP detection and genotyping services. Rapigene was acquired by QIAGEN in a transaction announced on January 10, 2000 and closed on December 31, 1999 for approximately $12 million in QIAGEN stock. After the acquisition, its capabilities were integrated into QIAGEN's genomics business and the Rapigene name appears to have been discontinued.
