Company intelligence / Profile preview
Rare Thyroid Therapeutics (RTT) is a Swedish biopharmaceutical company focused on developing therapies for rare thyroid hormone signaling disorders. The company's lead asset is Emcitate (tiratricol), a small-molecule thyroid hormone receptor agonist developed to treat monocarboxylate transporter 8 (MCT8) deficiency, also known as Allan-Herndon-Dudley syndrome. In November 2020, RTT was acquired by PledPharma, which subsequently rebranded as Egetis Therapeutics. Following regulatory approvals in Europe in 2025 and the United States in 2026, Emcitate became the first approved therapy for MCT8 deficiency.
