RBC Centura

RBC Centura was the United States retail banking division of the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), primarily serving the Southeast. While a financial institution, it was notable in the life sciences sector for its specialized Knowledge Based Industries (KBI) group, which provided commercial banking, early-stage loans, and advisory services to biotechnology and technology companies. The KBI group was particularly active in the Research Triangle Park region of North Carolina, supporting the growth of numerous emerging life science firms through debt financing and private equity via RBC Centura Capital. The company was rebranded as RBC Bank in 2008 and its retail operations were subsequently acquired by PNC Financial Services in 2012.
