Real Water

Real Water was a U.S. bottled alkaline water company that sold "Real Water" branded drinking water and water concentrate products through retail, online, and home/office delivery channels. The business was not a biotech, pharma, or healthcare company; it was a consumer beverage company whose products were marketed as alkaline water. In 2021, the FDA, CDC, and Southern Nevada Health District investigated acute non-viral hepatitis cases associated with consumption of Real Water products, after which the company issued a nationwide recall of all sizes of its branded drinking water. FDA states the company is not currently in operation, and public reporting indicates the business later filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Real Water has since been the subject of multiple major civil verdicts tied to alleged consumer injuries from its products.
