Recodagen

Recodagen is a biotechnology company specializing in programmable RNA editing technologies for the treatment of genetic diseases. The company's core platform, LEAPER (Leveraging Endogenous ADAR for Programmable Editing of RNA), utilizes engineered ADAR-recruiting RNAs (arRNAs) to recruit endogenous ADAR enzymes for precise A-to-I editing. Unlike CRISPR-based methods, LEAPER does not require the delivery of exogenous proteins, potentially reducing immunogenicity and off-target risks. This approach aims to provide a safer alternative to DNA-level gene editing by avoiding permanent genomic changes. Recodagen is currently advancing a pipeline of therapies targeting rare genetic disorders such as Hurler syndrome and Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency. The company was founded by Dr. Wensheng Wei, a pioneer in genome editing from Peking University.
