Company intelligence / Profile preview
Regent-GM Laboratories was a prominent United Kingdom-based generic pharmaceutical manufacturer and a subsidiary of General Mediterranean Holding (GMH). At its peak in the late 1990s, the company produced approximately 1.6 billion tablets annually, representing roughly 10% of the UK generic drug market. Its product portfolio included a wide range of essential medicines such as antibiotics (penicillins), anti-inflammatories (indometacin), anticoagulants (warfarin), and oncology treatments (tamoxifen). The company became central to a major Serious Fraud Office investigation known as Operation Holbein, which alleged price-fixing and supply restriction of generic drugs in the UK. Following these legal challenges and the suspension of production in late 1998, the company was eventually wound up and dissolved.
