Overview
Rel-MD was a preclinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing small molecule transcription factor inhibitors for the treatment of cancer and inflammatory diseases. Spun out from Profectus BioSciences in 2011, the company's research centered on targeting Rel proteins, which are members of the NF-κB family. Its lead candidate, REM-1086 (also known as PBS-1086), was designed to inhibit all five Rel proteins to block both canonical and non-canonical NF-κB pathways. The company was developing REM-1086 for multiple myeloma and was also working on prodrug formulations to improve oral bioavailability. Rel-MD ceased operations around 2017.
