Reliant Therapeutics

Reliant Pharmaceuticals was a pharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of branded prescription drugs for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The company's portfolio was highlighted by Lovaza (omega-3-acid ethyl esters), a treatment for adult patients with very high levels of triglycerides. Reliant also marketed other cardiovascular products including DynaCirc CR (isradipine) and InnoPran XL (propranolol). The company was founded in 1999 and grew rapidly through the acquisition of rights to established products and the development of new formulations. In 2007, Reliant was acquired by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) for approximately $1.65 billion, primarily to gain access to the high-growth Lovaza franchise.
