Remon

Remon Medical Technologies was an Israeli medical device company that developed a platform for wireless, battery-less communication with implanted medical devices. The company's core technology used acoustic energy (ultrasound) to power and retrieve data from miniature sensors located deep within the body, overcoming the limitations of radiofrequency in deep-tissue applications. Their lead application, the Impressure system, was designed to monitor intracardiac pressure in patients with congestive heart failure to optimize therapy and prevent hospitalization. Remon also explored applications for monitoring pressure within the sac of abdominal aortic aneurysms following endovascular repair. In 2007, Boston Scientific acquired the company for approximately $80 million to integrate its sensing technology into their cardiovascular and rhythm management product lines.
