Rempex Pharmaceuticals

Rempex Pharmaceuticals was a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and development of new antibacterial drugs to treat multi-drug resistant (MDR) Gram-negative infections. The company's lead program was Carbavance, a combination of the carbapenem antibiotic meropenem and the novel beta-lactamase inhibitor vaborbactam, designed to overcome resistance mechanisms like KPC. Rempex was founded in 2011 by a team of experienced antibiotic developers and was acquired by The Medicines Company in 2013. Its lead product was subsequently FDA-approved as Vabomere for the treatment of complicated urinary tract infections. The company also developed a proprietary formulation of minocycline for injection to address resistant pathogens.
