Renal Regeneration Consortium

The Renal Regeneration Consortium (RRC) was an Australian-led research and development entity focused on pioneering regenerative medicine for kidney diseases. Established in 2002 by Professor Melissa Little and Professor John Bertram, the consortium brought together experts from the University of Queensland, Monash University, and other institutions to explore stem cell therapies and tissue engineering. The RRC was notable for receiving significant funding from the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) and served as the scientific foundation for the spin-out company Nephrogenix Pty Ltd. Although the consortium itself is no longer active in its original form, its work laid the groundwork for modern efforts in organoid-based kidney reconstruction and cellular repair strategies.
