Renovo Group was a prominent British biopharmaceutical company that specialized in the development of novel therapeutics for scar prevention and wound healing. Founded as a spin-out from the University of Manchester, the company focused on modulating the activity of Transforming Growth Factor beta (TGF-beta) isoforms to improve surgical outcomes. Its lead product candidate, Juvista (avotermin), reached Phase 3 clinical trials but failed to meet its primary efficacy endpoints in 2011, leading to a significant decline in the company's valuation. Following this setback, Renovo terminated its research and development programs and transitioned into an investment vehicle. The company was eventually acquired by DBAY Advisors and taken private, marking the end of its tenure as a leading biotech innovator.
