Company intelligence / Profile preview
Reperio Pharmaceuticals was a preclinical-stage biotechnology company focused on the discovery and development of small molecule therapies for vascular-mediated retinal diseases. The company's research primarily targeted the Tie2 signaling pathway, a critical regulator of vascular stability and permeability in the eye. By developing Tie2 inhibitors, Reperio aimed to address significant unmet needs in conditions such as diabetic macular edema (DME) and wet age-related macular degeneration (wAMD). In November 2021, Reperio was acquired by Kala Pharmaceuticals (now Kala Bio) for an upfront payment of $7.5 million. The acquisition allowed Kala to expand its ophthalmology pipeline by integrating Reperio's Tie2 inhibitor program with its own drug delivery technologies.
