Restoragen

Restoragen was a biopharmaceutical company specializing in the development of peptide-based therapeutics for endocrine and cardiovascular disorders. Originally founded as BioNebraska, the company leveraged a proprietary recombinant protein expression platform to manufacture complex peptides like GLP-1 and calcitonin. Its lead program, a recombinant human GLP-1, reached Phase 2 clinical trials for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and congestive heart failure. The company's technology aimed to overcome the high costs and scalability issues associated with traditional solid-phase peptide synthesis. Restoragen ceased operations and filed for bankruptcy in 2003, with its primary intellectual property and programs being acquired by Amylin Pharmaceuticals.
