MiGenTra Egypt is the current operating name of the Egyptian biopharmaceutical company originally established as Rhein Minapharm Biogenetics, a joint venture between Minapharm Pharmaceuticals and Germany's Rhein-Biotech. The company develops and manufactures therapeutic recombinant proteins, vaccines, and more recently viral-vector and cell/gene-therapy-related products, and operates from 10th of Ramadan City in Egypt. Its activities span process development, drug-substance manufacturing, and support for clinical development and commercialization of biopharmaceutical products. Historical programs and products associated with the business include pegylated interferon alfa-2a, recombinant factor VIII, recombinant follicle-stimulating hormone, hirudin, parathyroid hormone, and development work on Elafin.
