RheoGene

RheoGene was a biotechnology company specializing in the development of inducible gene regulation systems for use in human gene and cell therapies. The company's core technology, the RheoSwitch Therapeutic System (RTS), enabled the precise, dose-dependent control of therapeutic protein expression through the use of small molecule activators. This "bio-switch" capability was designed to improve the safety profile of gene-based medicines by allowing clinicians to modulate the timing and level of gene activity. In 2007, RheoGene was acquired by Intrexon Corporation (now Precigen), which integrated the technology into its synthetic biology platform. Today, the RheoSwitch technology remains a foundational component of Precigen's oncology pipeline, particularly in its controlled IL-12 gene therapy programs.
