RheoLogics was a medical technology company that pioneered the clinical application of hemorheology, focusing on the measurement of blood viscosity as a diagnostic tool. The company developed the RheoProfiler, an automated device designed to provide a comprehensive profile of blood flow properties across varying shear rates. By quantifying whole blood and plasma viscosity, RheoLogics aimed to provide clinicians with a new metric for assessing the risk of cardiovascular events, stroke, and diabetic complications. The technology was based on the Kensey-Cho capillary rheometer, which allowed for rapid and precise testing in a clinical setting. In 2007, the assets of RheoLogics were acquired by Health Discovery Corporation, and the company is no longer an independent active entity.
