Rhodia

Rhodia was a prominent French specialty chemical company that served as a critical partner to the global pharmaceutical and life sciences industries. Spun off from Rhône-Poulenc in 1998, the company operated a dedicated division, Rhodia Pharma Solutions, which specialized in the custom synthesis of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and intermediates. It was notably the world's leading producer of salicylic acid and aspirin, while also providing advanced technologies for chiral chemistry and complex organic synthesis. In 2011, Rhodia was acquired by the Belgian group Solvay in a deal valued at approximately €3.4 billion, integrating its extensive portfolio into Solvay's global operations.
