Richard Burt

The Burt Stem Cell Institute, led by Dr. Richard Burt, is a specialized clinical and research organization focused on autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) for the treatment of autoimmune diseases. Dr. Burt is a pioneer in the field, having conducted the first HSCTs for multiple sclerosis, systemic sclerosis, and Crohn's disease. The institute's therapeutic approach involves a non-myeloablative conditioning regimen designed to 'reset' the patient's immune system by eliminating self-reactive lymphocytes and re-populating the system with autologous stem cells. This platform has shown significant success in clinical trials, particularly in reversing disability in patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis.
