Richardson Hindustan Limited was a prominent Indian pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare company, best known as the manufacturer of the Vicks brand of over-the-counter cold and cough remedies. Originally established as a subsidiary of the American firm Richardson-Vicks, the company played a significant role in the Indian healthcare market throughout the mid-20th century. In 1985, following the global acquisition of Richardson-Vicks by Procter & Gamble, the company was integrated into the P&G portfolio. It was subsequently renamed Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care Limited, continuing to market leading consumer health brands in India. The company is recognized for its strong distribution network and iconic marketing campaigns that established Vicks as a household name in the region. Today, the entity remains a publicly traded subsidiary of P&G on the Indian stock exchanges.
