Richmond Ambulance Authority

The Richmond Ambulance Authority (RAA) is the primary provider of emergency and non-emergency medical transport services for the City of Richmond, Virginia. Established in 1991 by the Virginia General Assembly, RAA operates under a high-performance EMS system model that emphasizes clinical excellence and response time reliability. The authority is nationally recognized and has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) since 1994. RAA provides Advanced Life Support (ALS) care and is one of the busiest EMS systems per capita in the United States, handling over 60,000 calls annually. Beyond emergency response, the organization is involved in community health initiatives, including CPR training and injury prevention programs.
