Richtree Market Restaurants

Richtree Market Restaurants was a Canadian food service company known for its European-style open-market dining concept, originally established as a subsidiary of the Swiss brand Mövenpick. Founded as an independent entity in 1996, the company operated several high-traffic locations in Ontario and Quebec, featuring diverse food stations where meals were prepared fresh to order. The chain was a pioneer in integrating technology into the dining experience, utilizing digital kiosks, mobile payment apps, and even hologram hostesses in its flagship Toronto Eaton Centre location. Despite its innovative approach and popularity in the 1990s and 2000s, the company struggled with financial instability, legal disputes with its former parent, and labor relations issues. Richtree ultimately ceased all operations in March 2020 following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
