Roger Bellon

Laboratoire Roger Bellon was a prominent French pharmaceutical company founded in 1933 by Roger Bellon. The company was a pioneer in the French pharmaceutical industry, particularly known for its work in antibiotics and vaccines, and was one of the first to manufacture penicillin in France. Throughout the mid-20th century, it expanded its portfolio to include oncology and immunology treatments. In 1963, the chemical and textile giant Rhône-Poulenc acquired a majority stake in the company, leading to its eventual full integration. Today, its legacy and assets reside within Sanofi following the series of mergers that formed the modern corporation. The company's historical manufacturing facilities, such as the site in Monts, played a crucial role in the industrialization of medicine in post-war France.
