Rorer Biotechnology Inc. was the dedicated biotechnology subsidiary of the Rorer Group, established in 1986 following the acquisition of Meloy Laboratories. The company specialized in the development of advanced therapeutics using recombinant DNA and monoclonal antibody technologies, with a primary focus on oncology and hematology. Its research portfolio notably included early-stage development of antibodies targeting the Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) and recombinant Factor VIII for the treatment of hemophilia. In 1990, the company was integrated into Rhône-Poulenc Rorer following the merger of its parent company, and its assets eventually became part of Sanofi through subsequent industry consolidations.
